Life works like a GPS Device

Life works like a GPS Device
Posted in Analogies, Top Secrets for Success by Gustav S on the October 19th, 2007

Sometimes I like to write analogies to make my points clear to people and I am sure that if you pay attention to what happen during your life you would be able to understand them either.

A couple of weeks ago I was reading an article from one of my best friend’s blog called How to manifest a House on the coast

And after reading the article I emailed him my thoughts and this generated a nice exchange which I decided to convert it in a post:
I really enjoyed your post about your house at the beach… I think you did great but I would like to tell you that the reason you have to go so down under with yourself is because of all the things you are dragging from your past, but at the moment we are AWARE things can only go up up up up … so do not worry…

Just to let you know that LONG TIME AGO I GOT TOTALLY CONVINCED that there is not BAD or GOOD ,,, even though we feel terrible when something doesn’t go the way we want it THAT IS JUST OUR EGO, but the truth is that GOD or the Universe is working things out for us the BEST WAY possible… it is our fault if we are not listening and for that reason things have to be harder

Aaron’s Reply:
Gustav,
Thanks for the words of wisdom!
And I am totally with you on there being no such thing as “bad” or “good”. It is all about the perspective of the viewer, and the viewer’s beliefs.
We are our own worst enemies, and that is definitely true when it comes to manifesting something that we want, but possibly feel that we can’t actually get.
I’m glad that you liked the beach house story, Gustav! Now it is on to the next stage!
Aaron

I replied:
I am happy for you, do you know what I also believe? that the universe works like the GPS of your car,,, I don’t know if you have seen how a GPS works, for example you give the GPS (the Universe) the FINAL destination (your wish) the GPS will calculate the SHORTEST ROUTE to reach your destination, then the GPS starts talking (God’s signals), ok lets go right, Turn left, so many meters here and there. It could happen (and happens a lot) that you MISS some of GPS signals and the GPS HAVE TO RECALCULATE THE ROUTE and this new route could take longer than the original route, but in the end you are being taken to your final destination…. get my point? Sometimes when we feel things are taking too long is because we are missing some SIGNALS! … but at the same time it is important that it is so because it gives us FREE WILL you see, I contribute to our discussion and I am automatically given ideas, isn’t life great?
GS

Aaron’s reply:
Gustav,
You’re right - that IS a great analogy! It sums up the process very nicely. Thank you so much for sharing it with me!
Aaron

My reply:
You are more than welcome, I do enjoy to share with people that understands me

Good Things Come to Those Who Ask

Good Things Come to Those Who Ask

Asking for what you need is probably the most underutilized tool for people. And yet, amazing requests have been granted to people simply because they've asked for it!

Whether its money, information, support, assistance, or time, most people are afraid to ask for what they need in order to make their dreams come true.

They might be afraid of looking needy, ignorant, helpless, or even greedy. More than likely, though, it is the fear of rejection that is holding them back. Even though they are afraid to hear the word no, they're already saying it to themselves by not asking!

Do you ask for what you want or are you afraid of rejection?

Consider this: Rejection is just a concept. There is really no such thing as rejection! You're not any worse off by hearing no than you were before you asked. You didn't have what you asked for before you asked and you still don't, so what did you lose?

Being rejected doesn't hold you back from anything. Only YOU hold yourself back. When you realize that there's no merit to rejection, you'll feel more comfortable asking for things. You may just need a bit of help learning how to ask for what you want.

How to Ask for What You Want

There’s a specific science to asking for and getting what you want or need in life. And while I recommend you learn more by studying The Aladdin Factor, here are some quick tips to get you started:

1. Ask as if you expect to get it. Ask with a positive expectation. Ask from the place that you have already been given it. It is a done deal. Ask as if you expect to get a “yes.”

2. Assume you can. Don’t start with the assumption that you can’t get it. If you are going to assume, assume you can get an upgrade. Assume you can get a table by the window. Assume that you can return it without a sales slip. Assume that you can get a scholarship, that you can get a raise, that you can get tickets at this late date. Don’t ever assume against yourself.

3. Ask someone who can give it to you. Qualify the person. Who would I have to speak to get... Who is authorized to make a decision about... What would have to happen for me to get...

4. Be clear and specific. In my seminars, I often ask, “Who wants more money in their life?” I’ll pick someone who raised their hand and give them a quarter, asking, “Is that enough for you?” “No? Well, how would I know how much you want? How would anybody know?”

You need to ask for a specific number. Too many people are walking around wanting more of something, but not being specific enough to obtain it.

5. Ask repeatedly. One of the most important Success Principles is the commitment to not give up.

Whenever we’re asking others to participate in the fulfillment of our goals, some people are going to say “no.” They may have other priorities, commitments and reasons not to participate. It’s no reflection on you.

Just get used to the idea that there’s going to be a lot of rejection along the way to the brass ring. The key is to not give up. When someone says “No”— you say “NEXT!” Why?

Because when you keep on asking, even the same person again and again...they might say “yes”...

…on a different day
…when they are in a better mood
…when you have new data to present
…after you’ve proven your commitment to them
…when circumstances have changed
…when you’ve learned how to close better
…when you’ve established better rapport
…when they trust you more
…when you have paid your dues
…when the economy is better
…and so on.

Kids know this Success Principle better than anyone. They will ask the same person over and over again without any hesitation. (can you relate?)

Getting a good perspective on rejection and learning how to ask will make a world of difference for you as you work toward your goals. Practice asking and you'll get very good at it! You'll even speed your progress by getting what you need, or improving yourself in order to get it later.

Make a list of what you need to ask for in all areas of your life, and start asking.

Remember, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE… if you dare to ask!

The Great Harvest

The Great Harvest

As a farmer lay dying, his four sons sat by his bedside awaiting his final words. “There is a vast treasure buried in the family’s field,” he whispered.

“Where is it, father?” the sons pleaded. But it was too late. Their father was gone.

Soon after his passing, the sons set to the field, trying to unearth the treasure. For many days the sons desperately worked pick and shovel, digging everywhere in search of their promised legacy. Eventually they turned over every inch of the field, but alas, no treasure was to be found. Finally, dejected and discouraged, they gave up their search and returned to their families and vocations.

The next year the farm yielded its greatest harvest ever.

This parable yields a lesson richer than the treasure the sons so fervently sought: The fortune their father hinted at was not a magical boon that would transform the sons’ lives in one glorious instant. The treasure was the untapped potential of the field, capable of yielding riches to the family if they worked with the materials and natural potential before them. The power of the treasure lay not at the end of the rainbow, but in the journey toward it.

I hear people talking about waiting for their big break; or for Oprah to hold up their book on television; or to win the lottery. Certainly these events would be wonderful if they occurred, but if you sit on your duff waiting for a record producer, Oprah, or a lottery number to save you, you may wait for a very long time and miss the wonder and gifts of the journey. Wisdom-guided action and integrity build success far more substantially than a magic pill.

The apparent goal of a journey is simply the carrot the universe dangles before you to call you to the adventure and learn the lessons the journey yields. Martin Buber declared, “All journeys have destinations of which the traveler is unaware.” If you think about most of the things you have striven for, you will realize that the lessons you learned in the process of striving were far more powerful and long-lasting than the material object at the end of the trail. While you sought for a soulmate, you may or may not have ended up with that person; but the self-knowledge you gained and the growth you experienced in the search ran far deeper than the form of the person you sought. Or perhaps you worked hard for a financial or career success. You may or may not have attained your goal, but what happened to you along the way made a far greater difference in your life than the specific goal itself. Then, when you obtained the car, house, or promotion, you were satisfied for a moment, but sooner or later you set your sights on the next achievement. Something inside you recognizes that the power of stretching to achieve something yields you more value than the something itself.

We are a quick-fix oriented culture. We want lots of stuff and we want it now. What we often leave out of the equation, however, is that we would prefer stuff that works. We want computer printers that last longer than a year, a job we can grow into a passionate career, and a soulmate we can love for a lifetime. Because we often sacrifice integrity for expedience, the art of quality engineering, true craftsmanship, and meaningful relationships is shrinking to the domain of a dedicated few. When I visited Japan, my friend Koichi told me that the oldest company in Japan ― and the world ― is 800 years old. The company is an architectural firm that specializes in building temples and pagodas. The company, Koichi explained, does not use nails in their construction. Instead, they make a series of tabs on the ends of wooden pieces and fit them together. Over eight centuries, when there have been earthquakes, this company’s structures, including five-story pagodas, have stood firm while buildings around them crumbled.

If you want a life that stands while others crumble, pay more attention to how you till the field than finding the buried treasure. The real treasure, you see, is buried within you. If you are going to mine anything, mine the gifts you already own. Don’t wait for a soulmate, talent scout, or Oprah to put you on the map. You are already on the map, but if you are holding it upside down, you won’t recognize and claim your true domain.

It’s a wonderful thing when people or events come along to change our life. But you must do your inner homework and own those changes by right of consciousness. Otherwise the boons that arrive will disappear as fast as they came. But if you have tilled your field with love, care, and integrity, the harvest will be bountiful, and you will have plenty for yourself and many others.

A bumper sticker philosophy by - Judy Campbell

A bumper sticker philosophy by - Judy Campbell

"If anything can go well, it will"

The quote above is on a bumper sticker created by Gene Whitford, gene@leavesandroots.com. The bumper sticker is available at various locations in Orlando, I picked mine up from the Avalon bookstore, Gene says they are also available at Leaves and Roots, and the Spiral Circle. The point of view presented on this bumper sticker is far more optimistic than another one we have all seen. According to the law of attraction the energy we put out into the universe creates our experience. So who would want to drive around attracting s#*! happening?

Now there are many whom are skeptical of the whole philosophy of we create our own reality or the law of attraction. This is particularly true when situations do not turn out the way we would like. In circumstances that we label as "bad', we're pretty quick to absolve ourselves of any part in the outcome, we are equally quick to blame God though. In situations with a favorable outcome we're sure it's because of our genius or our personal worthiness. For some reason human beings seem to believe God makes mistakes, and not the other way around, which would mean we the humans are mistaken. If we create our lives based upon our use or misuse of Universal energy, it would be in our best interests to travel in an attitude of positive energy.

Wayne Dyer in his new book and PBS feature, Excuses Begone!, makes the point that unless we are 100% sure of something being true, about ourselves or life, then perhaps we would be better served by erring on the side of a thought or idea that will take us where we want to go. Energy is flowing around us... to us...through us. Our experiences are determined by how much we allow this Universal energy to flow into our lives unimpeded. Abraham-Hicks calls this "The Art of Allowing", A Course in Miracles says "you can wait, delay , paralyze yourself, or reduce your creativity almost to nothing. But you cannot abolish it."

Gene Whitford says that when he came up with this slogan for a bumper sticker, shortly thereafter, if not that same day, he received money from a trust fund. Coincidence... maybe , but once again are you 100% certain? In either case the power of decision is our own. As we venture out into the world, in whatever vehicle (physically or spiritually), we travel in and if we wish to carry a slogan along the way, why not choose one with positive energy because you know,

"If anything can go well, it will"

I Believe God Wants You To Know by Neale Donald Walsch

I Believe God Wants You To Know by Neale Donald Walsch

On this day of your life, Dear Friend, I believe God wants you to know...
....that you need not be concerned about money [or?]. Be concerned, instead, about joy.

How much joy are you experiencing in this moment? How much joy are you bringing to this moment? The joy you experience will be the joy you bring. If you are waiting for joy to be brought to you, you do not understand what you are doing here. And if you think that joy has anything to do with money (or weight or ?), you really do not understand what you are doing here.

There is a person waiting right now, right this very minute, for you to uplift them. Do that...and you will be rich.

Really. I mean, really. I'm not making this up.

Love, Your Friend....

Happy Yet? By Lionel Ketchian

Happy Yet?
By Lionel Ketchian

Eight years ago I decided to try to hand feed some birds in my backyard. I put some crushed walnuts in my right hand and extended it. It was winter and the weather was cold, but I stood absolutely motionless, and completely quiet. Within a few minutes, a bird landed on my hand for the first time in my life. It was a cute tiny bird called a Black Capped Chickadee.

It flew onto the tip of my fingers, picked up a piece of walnut and flew off to enjoy it. Soon it returned to land on my hand again. This time it picked up a piece of walnut and dropped it on the ground. Then it picked up another and dropped that on the ground as well. Finally it selected a third piece, which must have been just the right one, and flew off with it. It trusted me enough to take its time and make sure it had a nice delicious piece.

It was not long after this event that I realized I had read the following quote by Nathaniel Hawthorne. "Happiness is a butterfly, which, when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you." Now I can say, "Happiness is a Black Capped Chickadee, a cute tiny bird, which, when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you."

For me, an interchange with nature is an unforgettable occasion and is nothing less than a spiritual experience. This event made me realize that happiness requires us to quiet down and allow things to come to us. The more we pursue things that are beyond our grasp, the more they move away. The faster we try to pursue them, the faster they move away. Happiness requires us to relax, become quiet, and act as if we will get what we expect, without the need to become upset if we don't.

The greatest things in life require patience, mindfulness, and knowledge of what is possible; being happy is a similar thing. I never thought I would be able to feed a wild bird and I thought the odds were against me. You may not think you can do something like become happy, but if you learn enough about happiness, you can do it. The important thing is knowing it can be done. It has been done before. Remember the four-minute mile. People did not believe it was possible to run a mile in less than four minutes. As soon as one person did it, the record began to be broken over and over again. What one person can do, another can do also.

Have you wondered: Is it possible to be happy all the time? Yes, it is! How is it possible to be happy all the time? Being happy all the time does not mean bad things don't happen to you. It just means you are able to handle them and not let them make you helpless and hopeless.

You may ask: How can I be happy? You can be happy by making happiness a decision, and by choosing happiness all the time. You can be happy by not allowing a situation, or a person to make you unhappy. Don't give up your happiness, because happiness is what you want more than anything else.

You may wonder: Why is happiness important? When things make you unhappy, you lose your power. In fact, you give your power away to the things that make you unhappy. The truth is, when you allow someone to make you unhappy, you have given your power to that person. Happiness is an issue of power. It's time to take your power back!

If your question is: What if something bad happens? This is the time that you need happiness the most, during times of hardship and stress. Happiness should be your strategy for dealing with negative things. When bad things happen, you need all the balance, wisdom and endurance you can find. Happiness allows you to gain access to your emotional intelligence. It is in times of difficulty, that you need to control your thinking, so you don't allow stinking thinking. You become unhappy as a result of your thinking, not because of what has happened to you. Your reaction, as a result of your thinking is what makes you unhappy, not the event itself. Happiness is your connection to yourself.

If your concern is: How can I make happiness work for me? The decision to be happy allows you to find out when you are off track. As soon as you realize you are unhappy, you are in control of changing your thoughts to allow you to choose happiness and get yourself back on the right track. You can practice being happy even when you feel unhappy. Pretend to be happy and you will start to make yourself feel happy. Act as if you are happy and you will become happy. Once you are operating with happiness, you begin to gain access to your best thoughts, change your negative ones, and your whole state of mind becomes peaceful. You begin to be flooded with good choices, alternatives, and options. You will begin to have ideas to serve you in the best way to find solutions to the problems you face.

What if there is no solution to my problem? If there is truly no solution, you have no problem. You have something that you do not like and cannot change. In this case, you are the problem. You will therefore remain unhappy unless, and until you change your attitude. Learn to accept what you cannot change, and move forward.

Do I have to live with what I don't like? If you can change it -- change it! If you can't change it, then learn to love it, or it will make you unhappy. Once you change your attitude about the thing you can't change and don't like, the situation can change. What you resist -- persists. When you stop fighting what you can't do anything about, the problem usually vanishes. Remember the "Serenity Prayer" and let happiness show you the wisdom to know the difference between what you can and cannot change.

Finally, you ask: When can I be happy? Be Happy Now! Stretch out your arm and as you open your hand, you realize that happiness is right there in the palm of your hand. It has always been within you. It's time! Go and Be Happy!

Law of Attraction and the quest for Enlightenment by Palma Bellardoni

When one mentions the Law of Attraction, I have noticed that people have different reactions and a different perception of it. I wonder if it depends on how they learned about it, and what was the source of the material. Some are skeptical about it, and do think that all this “positive thinking” won’t lead to anything - that it is a very naive approach, and that it misleads the masses. Others say that all this wanting to manifest material goods is not spiritual at all, and it’s just a hype that took hold in a society that keeps wanting to accumulate stuff, where people want to learn to manifest just to improve their material life, without looking deeper with the desire to raise their consciousness.

Depending on how you look at it, they are both right and wrong. What I mean is, they are right because there are sources that teach a mostly materialistic or incomplete approach, they are wrong because they did not look at the true spiritual essence of the principles.

Can the Law of Attraction lead to spiritual enlightenment? What is enlightenment anyways?

Buddhism and Enlightenment

According to Buddhist teachings, enlightenment is the extinction of desire and suffering and the disintegration of individual consciousness. It is the realization that the ego is an illusion of the mind, and that we are One consciousness. It is the awakening to the true nature of this Universe. This realization doesn’t stem from a purely intellectual knowledge, but from a real experience of merging into Oneness, a true knowing of the illusion of the ego.

During a Vipassana meditation course, I had a tiny millisecond glimpse of this. It was like a melting away of the body and mind, and a feeling of Oneness and floating energy. I tried to reach that state again, during following sessions, as it was really blissful in that microscopic moment, but could never replicate it. However, the memory of it is there, so I can really relate to the concept. Should I mention that everything went back to (*cough*) normal, with my individual ego being quite happy?

The Law of Attraction and Enlightenment

According to the best teachers - in my opinion - of the Law of Attraction, Abraham-Hicks, enlightenment is an alignment with Source

Enlightenment means literally aligning to the Energy of my Source. And genius is only about focusing. Law of Attraction takes care of everything else. Physical humans often want to make enlightenment about finding some process and moving through the process that has been pre-described. But true enlightenment is moving to the rhythm of the internal inspiration that is coming in response to the individual desire. Enlightenment is about allowing my Connection to the Source that is me for the fulfillment of the things that I have individually defined here in my time-space-reality. That’s as good as it gets! — Abraham
Excerpted from the workshop in Boulder, CO on Saturday, June 7th, 2003

Here, unlike Buddhism, there is no extinction of individual consciousness or desires. They are spiritual in nature and help the Universe expand. The spiritual essence of the Law of Attraction lies in the realization that this is a vibrational Universe, that we are an extension of the One, and are consciousness in physical form, experiencing this time/space reality.

Law of Attraction is not just about “positive thinking”, because there is an understanding of how frequencies resonate, so it’s also about “positive feeling”. Emotions are our tool, or as Abraham says, our “guidance system”, to understand if what we are thinking will take us where we want to be. Those who believe that simply thinking positive won’t do it, are right, but then, they did not understand LOA.

Is wanting to manifest material things, wanting to “have”, spiritual enough? Not according to You are Truly Loved, a blog worth visiting, and I can see the point being made:

The teachings on enlightenment are designed to help point you to the realization that none of that actually matters since it’s all an illusion anyways.

Even Abraham says that it’s not the “having of it” that will lead to happiness. Manifesting things is a way to understand how this Universe works. Being in alignment with Source is a spiritual understanding of the vibrational nature of things. Those who are just teaching the Law of Attraction to attract money, cars and more, are limiting what LOA is really about. Yes, one can have those, but with the understanding of the spiritual nature of that manifestation. It’s just energy in movement.

What, then? Can they both lead to Enlightenment?

The two kinds of “enlightenment” seem to have the opposite premise. No desire/desire, extinction of individual consciousness/expansion of individual consciousness. They do have in common the vibrational view of reality, and that we are Source.

We are one merging Consciousness, where the ego is an illusion of a temporary time/space reality… while we are experiencing this time/space reality, we can acknowledge the vibrational nature of all things, and create a life experience where we are aligned with the One Source. We play with energy, being able to attract things and experiences onto us, while remaining free from attachment to “material” things, because everything is energy anyways… if it’s there, great. If it’s not there, cool, there is an endless stream of energy available.

What is your view of the Law of Attraction, do you agree that it does have a spiritual nature? Is aligning with Source enough for you, to define it as “enlightenment”? Can one still enjoy individual consciousness, with the ultimate realization that there is none?
